OUR PROJECTS
Combining the Enactus organization's central message to enact global change and the University of Guelph's mission is to Improve Life, our team at Enactus Guelph has decided to focus this year's projects on waste reduction, especially with the increased importance of sustainability. Through our entrepreneurial ideologies, and our drive, we hope to spark change in our community and we encourage those around us to do so as well!
FLOURISH
GOAL
Divert industrial food waste to create a consumer friendly, nutritionally dense product.
EXECUTION
Create flour from spent grain otherwise not used by Guelph’s own, Wellington Brewery and use a specialized process to maximize the nutritional benefit of spent grain flour. Our product will then be sold to the restaurant and baking industry to be incorporated into high quality products that boast environmentally sustainable roots and increased health value.
KIND HIVE
GOAL
To source beeswax from local honey produces and use it to make household and beauty products.
EXECUTION
Kind Hive involves the use of beeswax sourced from local honey producers to make a variety of household and beauty items. These include reusable food wraps, makeup, and candles. The idea for this stems from frustration on our behalf seeing the waste and harmful materials used in conventional household and beauty products. With Kind Hive, we offer a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative and also help out our local beekeepers with their leftover beeswax!
